Savoury mince is an easy and versatile dish that is a real crowd pleaser. Ready in 30 minutes, serve it on a bed of rice or with creamy mashed potato for a healthy and delicious midweek family meal.

Gluten Free Savoury Mince
Budget-friendly and delicious, my gluten free savoury mince is sure to become a firm family favourite.
Ingredients
- 500 g lean minced beef
- 1 onion finely diced
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 150 g frozen peas
- 2 carrots finely diced
- 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
- 2 tbsp gluten free plain flour
- 425 ml cold water
- 30 g Erin gluten free oxtail soup roughly half the packet
- 2 tsp gluten free soy sauce
- 1 tsp ketchup ensure gluten free
- 1/2 tsp white wine vinegar ensure gluten free
- 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large pan over a medium heat and, once hot, cook the onions and carrot for 5 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally.
- Add the garlic and cook, stirring for 1 minute.
- Add the mince. Break it up using a wooden spoon and turn it regularly to brown completely (approx. 4-5 minutes).
- Add the gluten free flour to the pan and stir through for a minute. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside whilst you make the sauce.
- Empty half the contents of Erin gluten free oxtail soup packet into a separate saucepan. Gradually add 425ml of cold water, stirring until blended.2
- Bring to the boil, stirring continuously, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Stir in the gluten free soy sauce, ketchup and white wine vinegar.
- Return the pan containing the meat to the hob over a medium heat. Pour over the sauce and stir until evenly distributed.
- Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the peas and cook for 5 minutes more then check the seasoning and consistency before serving. Mix a teaspoon of cornflour with water and stir into the mixture if it seems too thin. Season with cracked black pepper.
- Serve on a bed of boiled rice or alongside creamy mashed potatoes.
